Herbal supplements can help ease the ’stress of therapy’ and are useful as adjuvants. A lot of these remedies are useful in conditions related to panic attacks – such as generalized anxiety, stress and depression. Some of the most effective remedies include:
1. Bacopa Monnieri (anti-stress, memory enhancer, anxiety reducer)
2. Valerian (basically a relaxant)
3. Ginseng
4. Ashwagandha
5. Rescue Remedy (actually a bach flower remedy)
Omega-3 capsules also help alleviate depression and can be seen as a useful allied remedy. Usually, compound remedies (multiple remedies in one) are more effective as they provide a holistic treatment of all the conditions involved.
i dont know if its popular or if its a remedy but something herbal is tazo tea which come with all different mood categories. One I would think could help is the Calm Tazo Tea…..however they make it they put something extra in it to help calm you down.
Please, if you are having panic attacks, go to a real, liscensed physician. "Herbal remedies" are quack remedies, and the people who pedal them have no real medical training whatsoever. Panic attacks can be indicative of a real psychiatric disorder that may benefit from medical management. Taking a handful or herbs or tea from someone who cannot explain, scientifically, why they work will not do you any good.
Sometimes panic attacks can be cause by hormonal or nutritional deficiencies. It’s best to be evaluated by a professional.
Some people use 5-htp. I have added a link below for information on it.
First of all, do not use hops at all. They cause and exacerbate depression, and the brain chemistry associated with depression and anxiety attacks is very similar, so you are asking for trouble if you use them. A popular choice is valerian, but it can cause drowsiness in large doses. Other possibilities are Scutellaria laterifolia (Scullcap), Stachys betonica (betony) and chamomile. For a long term solution, try Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian ginseng) at the same time for a month.
