I have panic disorder and need some help?
My medication doesnt seem to be working and Im really worried. The thing is im supposed to be going on holiday next saturday and the only thing that stops my panic attacks is to go home and i cant do that on holiday. What should I do?

If you feel a panic attack or feelings of anxiety creeping up on you then try this word repetition technique that I learned that helps me to quickly ’snap out’ of my panic attacks:
I simply repeat the words ‘cream cake’ over and over in my head as quickly as I can without stopping. You could use any word or words you like really but that’s what I chose (because I like cream cakes). It apparently works because it doesn’t give your brain time to process the panicky thoughts and so helps you to relax again. Seems strange I know … but it works for me!

Is it panic attacks and anxiety disorder?
I’ve never heard of panic disorder.
the panic is a symptom of the disorder as far as I know.
Why don’t you call your therapist or MD?
maybe he can put you on another medication.
or maybe you are just recently on meds and your system is not yet fully receiving the effects, wait a few more weeks. some meds take up to 3 months to work.
talk to your doc or someone you trust.
We can’t do much to help you from our PC.
Sometimes knowing that someone you trust is there in case you panic is the best medication.
Besides NO One has died of a panic attack.
See your doctor and tell him/her your meds are not working and you want to try something new.

I understand. This is how I manage. I say the "Littany Against Fear" from DUNE by Frank Herbert. I say it often as I need to, sometimes I just need the first 2 lines. But here is the whole thing.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. It is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will allow to pass over me and through me. And when it has passed by, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where fear has gone will be nothing. Only I will remain."
Say it out loud, write it down and read it, say it under your breath.
Say it over and over. Think about the words. It can really help.

just relax you can’t help getting the feeling but you can help making it into something more. You should expect to get the panicky feeling but just say to yourself. I have gotten this so many times and nothing bad has ever happened to me so there is no need to worry about getting it.
Go to your doctor and ask for better medication
buy a few brown paper bags,. breath into those when you get the panic attack , it will restore your carbon dioxide levels and help. other than that, is there anyway you can see your doc/psychiatrist before you go on your trip to get the proper med? or at least some benzos or ativan or clonazepam or xanax or help you thru until you get back?
