You poor thing.
I’ve just gone through a period of terrible panic/anxiety attacks.
There are a few tricks that can help you reduce the intensity. These ones work for me
- Identify & remind yourself that you are having a panic attack
- Tell yourself that you’re not in danger. nothing bads going to happen. you’re not going to die.
- If you can, get up from where you are and try to go somewhere alone where there is fresh air. Cool air or wind helps me calm down. It distracts you.
- If you feel OK in doing so, tell someone you’re going through an attack. Just say "i’m having a panic attack". it will help you if you need to suddenly leave.
- When you’re getting a little bit calmer…or when you feel yourself starting to get panicky try and remind yourself that it’s ok and you’re having an attack and try to go through a list in your head of what really COULD be making it happen. You’ll generally find out there’s nothing urgently threatening you which will help you calm down quicker.
- See a psychologist and then your local GP (doctor). I did and they helped me with a lot of different techniques. they are trained to idenfity what you might need and what suits you best.
- If you’re in Australia i would recommend calling Lifeline on 131 114. Tell them you’re panicking. they are extremely good at talking you through it. i’ve called them a number of times. they are a 24 hour service. NEVER feel bad about calling them.
Good on you for seeking help yourself by posting a question on here. It shows that you’re going to work through this
Sounds like once the panic attack starts you have no control. Take some deep breaths slowly. Have you seen a doctor if not please see one and you might ask what medications would help and the name of a therapist. Check out this information along with seeing a doctor.
I’ll tell you in the beginning, drugs are not the answer. Some doctors practice premature diagnosis on a lot of serious problems. Just remember If a doctor gives you medication as the first step in solving your problem you might want to stay away from their practice. Sometimes, it’s very obvious to see they only care about money, and not you.
The first time I had an anxiety attack I was in high school. I didn’t know what it was at the time. My palms got so sweaty and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. It happened right there in the gym locker room, when Coach told us to take a shower. I didn’t know why I felt like that, but everything in my body just told me to leave. I put my clothes back on and went home. I even skipped my last 3 classes, because that’s how bad it was.
I actually went to a doctor to treat my attacks weeks later and he prescribed me some meds. I was totally against the idea at the time, but it got so bad I felt I had no choice. So the meds did patch the leak for a while but I wanted to be fixed. I wanted to feel like the old me again.
I was trying this one program at the time, a friend referred to me that really did help. Unfortunately, I’ve looked online and it’s not on the web. Here’s a great site though, one of my friends used this product and told me it worked for him.

Hold in there, everything will work out. I didn’t think I could get over it but I’m telling you I did. hope this helps.
Hey, I understand how you feel…
The uncomfortable symptoms like sweaty palms, "jelly" legs, extreme alertness, "impending doom" feeling and the fight-or-flight response.
I’ve been there. I’m an ex-victim. Sometimes the deep breathing or distraction techniques doesn’t work – a full-blown panic or anxiety attack happens later.
Sometimes you experience panic attack out of the blue and such.
Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work – I’ve tried them and their solutions are similar – it DOESN’T WORK.
Medications do NOT work – I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same – no improvement at all.
The only program that really work is The Panic Attack Solution. It’s found by an ex-victim. You can check out his old blog in his official website to read up some useful tips.
But the package is the best – it teaches 17 powerful techniques and the real solution to panic attacks. I’ve bought it and it really helped me – it’s the BEST anti-anxiety package or book I’ve read.
His theory really makes sense.
You will learn why your panic attacks can happen without warning sometimes; why having stimulant causes panic attacks; and many-many other useful tips!

Actually yes there is a natural way of doing this. I have used it and it does work. If you want to overcome social anxiety disorder take a look at http://www.overcomesocialanxietydisorder.com

Go to Dr
Watch the symptoms without resisting them. What resists, persists.
Trust is the key. Trust that these symptoms are not harmful. Remind yourself when they come, it is only anxiety and anxiety is not harmful.
Avoidance of the camping trip will only create more avoidance of feared situations.
Facing a feared situation is a must. Go through with it, no matter how anxious you get. Just wait it out because it won’t last forever; it passes very quickly, you just have to let it. Once it’s over you will probably feel quite proud of yourself.
If you avoid a situation to avoid panic attacks, the panic remains and running away is actually rewarding the symptoms and reinforcing to your unconscious that certain situations are to be feared, and are harmful, when in reality they are not.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works wonders.
Stop, take deep breaths. Count to ten.
