I get panic attacks too. You feel like you are going to pass out and your heart rate goes thru the roof.. right?
Have to talked to your doctor about medication? Maybe they can perscribe something to help you.
When I know I’m having a panic attack, I call my father and he talks me thru it. It’s all in your head. Worrying about them can bring them on. You have to de stress yourself. And when you have them, call SOMEBODY and just talk, not about your panic attack, just about anything. If your parents know you get them and you are close with them, call them and expalin what is going on and why you are calling. Freaking out about them whil you are having one will make it worse. I’m saying to call (or talk) to someone because it takes your mind off of it while it’s happening. While you are talking, lay down. It will go away sooner than it normally takes and it’s not as scary. And remember, control your breathing while you are having one. That will slow the heart rate back to normal. In thru the nose, out thru the mouth. You CAN control it (panic attacks).
Hope I helped.
Wow, when you find out, let me know. My husband gets them all the time too!
Good Luck!!
the first thing to do is… not to panic
You could try hypnotism, or a subtly more psychological thing like one of those stones that you rub and they supposedly make you calm.
There are some breathing technique you can use – they helped me. For example, ‘the full yogic breath’, which you can learn in some yoga classes. This also used to help me: sit down, look down at your shoes and really focus your attention entirely on them for a couple of minutes!
Ypu have to use mind control. Know its comming and tell yourself its nothing to be afraid of and it will only be a minute. Sometimes panic attacks become worse because of your anticipation and fear of them. Other than that I would go and talk to a doc. Maybe they can prescribe something for it. I used to get them a lot and my doc put me on some meds and I haven’t had one since.
sadly there is not sure fire way to stop a panic attack, i too have suffered from panic attacks, i find it best to accept that an attack is coming and then ride it out. trying to fight an attack will only make it worst, of course there are drugs out there but they are only designed for depression and not the attacks them self’s. seeing a therapist or counselor can also help.
hope you get better
Panic attacks start because there is something on your mind that is waying heavily on your thoughts. It is very hard to learn how to stop panic attacks because people like us have been using a certain thought pattern that has started these attacks in the first place. You’ll have to start by taking the value of the attack away. Most people are scared of these attacks and then work themselves up more because they know they are about to happen. This then only causes the attack and makes it more powerful. Try stopping yourself in mid-thought and not thinking about the panic attack, rather think about what tit is your trying to take your mind off of. There has to be something bothering you to cause it. Confront that situation and try to solve THAT problem rather than solving the panic attack. This is really hard for most people. You may be so used to having your panic attack that you don’t know what is causing it. For example, some people have them at night. They can’t figure out why. It could be because they dont like to lay down for bed because their mind wanders and thinks of things they don’t want to think of, therefore they begin to panic about sleeping and it gets out of control. It may even be something you don’t even know about or haven’t thought of. I received a program that my mom saw on tv from the Midwest Centers for Stress and Anxiety and it has really helped me with MANY of my problems. Even if you’re thinking that you don’t have a problem with those things it really helps the underlying issues. Do a search on it if you’d like. It costs money but it worth the help in the long run. Also try searching for books that may help with coping with these problems. Hope this helps you!!!
