Do you know anything about panic attacks?
I have severe panic attacks. Does anyone have any solutions to this or know any tricks to help this problem.
I have had them for 3 years now. I am on Zoloft, 100 mg. It doesn’t seem to be helping.

A recent study showed that if you understand that your thoughts are irrational, remind yourself of that and change your thoughts, you can train yourself to overcome it. Additionally, they found the panic attacks start for a reason, once you can pinpoint the reason (when, where, why) you can then better overcome it too.
I agree with this because I began having panic attacks when my marriage began to fall apart. Once I divorced him, I no longer has those attacks and spent a lot of time telling myself my thoughts I was having that were upsetting, just were not rational.
Seeking out counseling is a good idea too. A counselor can guide you with rational thinking, ease your fears, give you information.
no i dont know anything.
My sister gets them…she sees a psychologist every week and has to have an inhaler to get her breathing back to normal. She just tries to stay away from large groups of people, because for her thats what triggers it. I guess you have to figure out what triggers your panic attacks and then try to stay away from that.
You probally will have to take medicine for this
know one thing—-when you start 2 pass out,let yourself do it.You wont die. I have done this many times. The first time,as i was going down,i just knew i would pass over=——–but,i passed out,my breathing returned to normal, and i was ok—–now i have .5 mg of klonopin 2 times a day to help…….I haven’t had one for 2 years
It’s true, sometimes medication is the only way to deal with the problem. Sometimes circumstances change and they can go away, but medication does help in the mean time. Counselling helps as well. One has to learn to modify their own thoughts and behaviour. Do go for help/advice from a professional trained in mental health issues.
I am a pro at panic attacks lol I have suffered with them for years. The most important thing is to recognize that you are having an attack and everything will be ok. You need to talk yourself through them. The most effect way to get rid of them is to go take to someone about once to twice a week so you can get things off your chest and also find a trigger. Also if you are on medication like Zoloft that can also help to calm them down. The only thing is that sometimes the meds can give you side effects for 2-4 weeks but if you stick through it it will be worth it.Please email me if you have an questions cause I feel like I can offer alot of advice.
I used to get them…
Putting a paper bag over your mouth and breathing into it helps
Running has always helped me. It’s good to keep your body busy when you start feeling an attack coming
The best thing to do is see a doctor…they will likely give you some Xanax for the short term (In, my experience, Xanax works better than any else by far) and probably a long term medication like Effexor or Celexa. Ask your doctor to refer to to a counselor or a psychiatrist. Talking to someone about what is stressing you out and causing your panic attacks helps sooo much. It’s a good way to get weight off your shoulders. Try to get plenty of sleep and exercise.
Go to the doctor no matter what! I struggled for years thinking I could fix it myself to no avail. If makes you feel so much better to hear a doctor say there is nothing physically wrong with you. Just remember of all the millions of people that have had this problem, nobody has ever died of a panic attack =)
God Bless
