So many people breathe thru only the upper part of their lungs, and this makes panic and anxiety worse. To see for yourself, lie flat on your back on your bed and place one hand on your tummy. As you breathe, note if your tummy rises and falls with each breath. If it does NOT rise and fall with each breath, then you are not breathing thru the bottom of your lungs, which is incorrect.
Train yourself to breathe so that your hand rises and falls with each breath. As you practice this, over and over, you will be learning correct breathing, which will be beneficial to your entire body. It will also help to stop the panic attacks.
You need to practice this all the time, until it becomes automatic. You can even practice doing this while riding in a car, sitting at a desk, or whatever. Best wishes to you, my dear.
Doctors are professionals. They know the symptoms of bipolar. They know what to look for. So if you go see one, they are not going to assume you are just looking for pills. They’ll analyze you and diagnose you. Most will end up referring you to a specialist, which is even better. Then just do whatever they tell you to do, to the letter.
Bipolar is a disease, just like cancer is a disease. It is not curable, but if you want to control the symptoms, you need to get to a doctor pronto. There is no other reasonable solution to your problem.
Good luck!
how about u stop diagnosing urself and go 2 a professional so that they can diagnose u… meds will help a crap load… this kinda stuff leads to depression and so take care of this sooner rather than later.. wat r u waiting 4…a miracle 2 fall our of the sky..sry it aint happening
Bi-Polar is not something simple that will go away. If this is truly what you have been diagnosed with then you must get expect care. After you go to the doctor he will refer you on to a psychiatrist. The medicines they prescribe will make your life so much better. Please don’t try to keep on going without help. (-:
- And if you don’t have a rapport with the the psych – find another one.

Contact your county/local mental health agency, and find out what help they can offer. Psychological counselling, with a sliding scale, based on income, is available through many religious organisations, such as Catholic counselling, the Methodist church, the Unitarian Universalists, and sometimes the United Way.
You don’t have to be a member. (U.S.A.) Google: "clinics; mhmr; (your city); (your state)" I have been variously informed that the phone numbers 211, and 411, are appropriate.
Many bipolars require mood stabilisers, and some need antipsychotics, as well. There are a lucky few who can cope, using the supplements, herbs, & vitamins. Doctors and psychiatrists understand the requirement for medications.
GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET THE MEDS AND TAKE THEM.
There are some things you just can’t do all by yourself. You should have been on meds all along, because they help your brain grow right instead of warped.
Go see a psychiatrist. They can diagnose you with hypochondria……
If you walk into a doctors office (or immediate care) asking for pills the first thing they are going to ask you is the name of the doctor who diagnosed you with Bipolar and GAD and Social Anxiety. At the very most they will give you enough pills for a day or two. Go see a phychiatrist…… IF they diagnose you then they will discuss a medication regimin.
Make an appointment with a doctor or go to a mental hospital and explain how you are feeling and what is happening to you.
These people are trained to "spot" someone who is only drug seeking.
So put that worry out of your head.
The medication for bipolar, panic attacks and anxiety disorder doesn’t make you "high." No more than aspirin or Tylenol or Vitamin C. You need an anti-depressant AND a mood stabilizer.
Any Doctor can diagnose and then prescribe the right medicine for you. But, psychiatrists are the real experts.
I take Effexor and Neurontin for Cyclothymia (the mildest form of bipolar), Panic and Anxiety disorders and PTSD, if you’re anorexic or severely underweight you shouldn’t take these meds, they can cause weight loss. But there are no adverse sexual side effects. And no other troublesome side effects – for me.
I had panic attacks and manic episodes for years
Once the doctor prescribed Klonopin , I do not get
none of these things , Yes this medicine is habit forming if you abuse it But so far I’ve been great while taking it
I’m not telling you to see a doctor because you say that you’re afraid you won’t get proper treatment right now, and you want to deal with the present situation, the panic attacks. What I’m writing here assumes that you want medical care.
There are self-help measures that are supported by scientific evidence, which is not to say they’re 100% effective. The Handbook of Self-Help Therapies, which reviews research on programs and books, says that self-help for panic in the form of a book, Coping with Panic by George Clum, is as effective as conventional therapy. You would probably have to order the Clum book, but there’s a very popular book by David D. Burns with instructions for panic, The Feeling Good Handbook. (Article below.)
Here’s a very brief summary of the techniques in the Burns book.
* Exaggerate your fears instead of running away from them. Try your hardest to “crack up.”
* If you’re afraid of doing something silly in public, do something silly, on purpose.
* Expose yourself to whatever you’re afraid of instead of running away.
* Keep a daily mood log and write down negative thoughts. Identify the distortions in your thinking and replace them with more realistic, positive thoughts.
* Weigh the advantages and disadvantages of worrying and avoiding whatever you fear.
* Substitute reassuring, peaceful images for frightening daydreams.
* Distract yourself with intense mental activity.
* Write a dialog with an imaginary hostile stranger who puts you down for feeling anxious.
* If you are ignoring problems that need to be dealt with, get in touch with them. Confronting a problem you’d rather forget can free you from worry.
There’s another approach that you might call semi-self-help because you should consult with a doctor before trying it. It’s called interoceptive exposure therapy. The idea is teaching yourself not to fear the symptoms of the attack. (Article below)
It’s a very rough, tough and loudly requiring HELP situation.
What can you really? Nothing, or probably Try this –
Try to arrange a meeting with yourself and SAY YOU ARE TAKING A COMMITTED DECISION and YOU YOU ARE SETTING SOME VALUES FOR YOURSELF.
If you could set some values that you can live your life by – YOU’LL BE A SUCCESS.
