Are anxiety and lack of success in life the result of a lack of trust in a Higher Power?
I recently read an article by some self help guru who wrote a book on how to treat social anxiety and panic attacks as he himself was a victim and developed his own unique methods. But he later found that he was again haunted by social anxiety. It was only when he put his trust in God and having a close relationship with God that he was able to get rid of it.

Could be.
Better pick the right "Higher Power" though, or your frustration will continue.
My God delivers.
" For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,[a] for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17
Nonsense.
No, most highly successful and intelligent people are atheists.
It could be true. Personally, being against life, karma, mother nature or whatever this fuken thing is, I don’t give a shit about it causing me trouble pain and annoyance.
Life isn’t that long to endure anyway, I’m never going to join the dark side, the bacteria of longevity and procreation.
It can’t drive me crazy or even make me cry, the more life pisses me off the more I just destroy it.
Self is popular.
Sacrifice is not.
A few key words to know what you’re reading is garbage "Guru", "God", and "Republican".
Of course it was. And all those socially awkward, panic attack victims you suffer from anxiety just don’t have enough faith in God, right?
Grow up. He’s a "self help guru". What do they do? Yes, they try to sell you stuff. Which is exactly what this person is trying to do.
That may have been the answer that worked for this guy, but that doesn’t mean it’ll work for anyone else. That’s certainly not enough to build a doctrine out of, imho.
It is the lack of God in your life with a close personal relationship to protect you from these tricks of satan. Satan’s purpose is to confuse you and decieve you and destroy you. All things are possible with God if you only believe. Faith the size of a mustard seed will do it. God does make a difference.
Yes that’s very not true .. You can say that a lack of faith in god is a detriment .. but you can’t say that a faith in god will cure you .. happens sometimes .. it also snows in july .. sometimes
no. its u . there is now Higher Power Man. but there is a Higher power. but most people have misconstrued it. it is u. u r da one who is resposible for ur anxiety and lack of success.
think critically. it’s u. no god is coming and helping u. it’s u. but there is a hidden power. there is no Man God.
think positively.
they may well be promoted by faith in that which lets you down as your dim idea of reality crashes and crumbles beneath your very feet. That God awful feeling you get when you realize you were the sucker that trusted a none existent higher power much to your dismay .
When people worry, they can’t really do anything about the issue but they still worry about it. You could just leave things up to chance, discovering that anxiety and worry are not the best feelings to use in order to motivate your decisions.
That’s funny. It’s been the reverse for me. I had a lot of anxiety as a child and in my 20s. I’ve had very little anxiety for years now. The easing of my anxieties had nothing to do with a belief in a god (I’m an atheist) or drugs (I don’t take drugs).
Depends on what your concept of god is. If its some powerful guy up there chucking locust and plagues around because they are gay or muslim, then no. But in a way anxienty can be linked to that. because little mole hills in life can become mountains infront of you. By thinking you are worthless, talentless, and a waste, then anqiety is going to beat the shit uot of you and take your wallet.
But by trusting in a higher power (God) you gain confedence (tied closely with faith) in your life that you can do anything. Like run for president, climb a huge mountain, live your dreams! or soemthing simple like asking someone out you like without fear or rejection. Either way By trusting in God, you gain alot of confidence (and faith in him!) in the physical world and emotionally. ( not saying the only reason to believe is confidence. Confidence is mearly a by-product of a much greater experiance when living through God.)
This is somewhat false. People who find comfort in God become dependent upon and trust in a make-believe power that directs, and they pray for guidance, instead of thinking of themselves as equal to that high-power, which would better suffice any living being.
I have come across many logical people who have GAD (an anxiety disorder) because of every one telling that individual that God is there for them. People who believe in God are mentally weak, in that they forfeit their decision making skills. When logic tells a person that they should believe in themselves, faith tells them to believe in God.
Believing in a higher power may do it for some, who don’t really care about there existence on earth, but those that are of logic, and sound mind, God becomes the cause of anxiety.
If we substitute the concept of God for Santa, and we believe that every year Santa is going to bring presents, then why bother going shopping…get what I am trying to say? We need to believe in ourselves, more than we need to believe in a deity – this is the cure for anxiety. People who have a hard time believing in themselves, and have no knowledge of how, turn to God.
Anxiety and lack of success are more likely to be indicators that you have been chosen by God rather than lack of trust.
1 Peter 4:12 The Message
Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.
1 Corinthians 1: 26-31 The Message
Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of "the brightest and the best" among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these "nobodies" to expose the hollow pretensions of the "somebodies"? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, "If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God."
Alas, if only it was as simple as that! Yes, putting complete trust in our Creator gives us hope, but unfortunately, we are born imperfect and what comes along with this package – amongst other things – is anxiety etc.
No one is immune to life’s problems. However, having full trust in God, does bring enormous relief because we know that He will listen. This has happened numerous times to me. I have felt so awful that even being in bed has not brought comfort; tossing and turning my head, just to try and rid this terrible feeling – then I pray and an instant calm comes over me and then I can get out of bed and get on with my day!
But you know, it is not trusting in your Creator to demand favours of Him. On the contrary, He only helps if you are asking in harmony with Him. Meaning: if you ask to become rich, then you will get nothing. If you ask for help because you want to help someone else, then He will listen because we are not thinking just about "us"! It is also no good pretending because He can read our hearts.
If you remember the account with Solomon. He asked for more wisdom in order to guide God’s people and so God gave him wisdom but also made him very successful because Solomon’s first thought was not for himself!
This is not to say we can’t ask for ourselves. We can even ask for the faith, trust; to show more kindness; God does not listen to selfish prayers.
